He grunted, looking across at her and rolling his eyes. His hair was now tinted with a little grey, but he was still the same Lee. Just a little older.
“Oh ha-ha Jerk.” He said, fake-pouting and standing up from his work, sawing wood to make a fence. “What’re you doin’ over here, huh? I thought you had a run?”
Sparks smile widened at his comment. It was always fun to tease him but it was never fun to come to any realizations that he was genuinely getting older. She never thought about the consequences. How unfair the world was that he wasn’t dying from a bite but from old age. Instead, she laughed about it and it made her feel good.
“Oh you know, it’s never very busy out there anymore, plus we never head too far out.” She shrugged, watching over his wood work. “Have you been commissioned for another fence?”
