He watched her. Stared, for a moment, squinting into the setting sun. Damn, he barely knew this one. Daryl remembered her coming in — had called herself Sparks. She was a good kid, from what he’d seen, but beyond that—?

His lips pressed into a thin line, nodding vaguely at her comment. Those fucking bastards — had he spent all that time building up a a damn army to come back and get them? Only to wreck the place.

Her question brought him to a halt, fingers tapping on his crossbow absently. —Assholes, he wanted to say. With a sigh, Daryl kept walking, eyebrows furrowing. “Some people we ran into — back ‘fore you came along…” And the thought brought bak so many memories. Most that he wanted to forget. “They kidnapped Glenn ‘n Maggie, we went to go get ‘em back, ‘n all Hell broke lose.” Swallowing the lump in his throat, Daryl shook his head, trying to push everything back. He started walking again, glancing back at her. “Rick tried t’ talk to ‘em, didn’t do any damn good. —We ended up takin’ in a bunch a people from their town after their fuckin’ Governor went batshit on ‘em.”

“—Thought we’d heard the last of ‘em.”

Two strangers walking through an endless forest. Boots trailing in the dirt. Sparks waited from a response from one of the men she trusted most. One of the people in her group who led and who was trusted by many. The response he gave only dropped her heart into her stomach. His words became images in her mind, as if she’d lived them herself. Glenn and Maggie were two of the many people she’d become close to in the group. To imagine them kidnapped. What kind of monster would do that? They already lived in a world where the dead came back to life, were they ate flesh, where you lose the closest of your kin and you’d have to kill them to survive. Why would anyone make it any worse than that? That’s when it began to dawn on the once innocent blonde that maybe walkers weren’t the only monsters haunting this world. Hew ears kept listening. Thinking to herself of course Rick would try to reach out to them. She’d truly picked the right side on this. She was glad she had fallen in with Rick’s people. She remembered the influx of people. Getting confused for a Woodbury citizen by some of the others. It was nice having all those people around, the prison grew into more of a community. AND NOW IT WAS GONE.  After all the destruction that was left there is no way they survived that.

“Well we definitely heard the last of them now. “
