. Brian’s hands fold in front of him, fingers lacing together before he lifts them to steeple by his lips. He tips his head to one side, thoughtful about her name. ‘Sparks’, it’s cute. Had she named herself after a town in Nevada? He grants some thought to it while he motions for her to follow him.
.
“Philip Blake. Let me give you the nickel tour, eh?”
. He feels a bristle of pride at the compliment toward his town. And she was right– Woodbury was, is, gorgeous. Pleasantly swept streets, well kept houses and storefronts. Brian nods approvingly as he begins to walk, catching the eyes of a few other residents. They smile nervously as he moves toward them.
. “There’s a doctor’s office down the road, a few dealers. We got rid of the barter system, so they’ll just give you what you need.” A pause, he turns to look at her. “Have you been assigned an apartment yet?”
“It’s nice to meet you, Phillip” She was glad that she didn’t have to explain her namesake just yet. It came with a tragic back story as most stories did now a days. She followed behind Phillip. A good name, for hopefully a good person, so far he’s proven himself. As she watched the town, a city preserved before the madness, she noticed observantly the residents of Woodbury were each glancing over in their direction. At first she thought maybe it was because she was unknown, but the looks they gave Phillip, instantly she knew he was important.
“A doctor?” Everything about this was exciting. She didn’t need one, but knowing one was around was such a comfort. “Wow you guys really have everything… I just got here. So I haven’t really been assigned anything yet. I didn’t know I was going to be allowed to stay. I thought maybe I had to pass a test or… I mean, Yes I would love to stay… Wait did you say apartments?” This town was just full of surprises.
