Dark Paradise || John + Sparks

“No, no you’re not.” He chuckled, shaking his head and taking the apology as an invitation to enter. Sauntering in carefully, he shut the door behind him but stayed close to it. “It’s not your fault. I was-…. I was kinda being an asshole.”

He took a few tentative steps closer, warily, like a deer. “Have you been alright? I’ve been trying not to hover, y’know, but…”

He shrugged, putting his hands in his pockets, feeling the warm metal on his fingers. It made him quiet, and he lowered his eyes again.

His chuckle sent tingles through her body. Once again she felt like a teenage girl having a crush on a dreamy man. Her breath wanted to hitch when she felt him come near. Her hands wanted to slide up his chest, up to his neck but she held back, waiting for a complete reconcile before she drooled all over him.

Above all else, Sparks was glad to have him near her again, not protesting at all when he entered her room.

“I think it’s both our faults.”

Sparks lips curved as she said that, and her smile rose as he asked about her. John’s overprotective nature warmed her cheeks, she felt sharper than any of her days spent alone.

“To be completely honest with you John no,”  Sparks didn’t feel like lying or playing games. “I’ve been quite crummy without you.”

Her smile got a little crooked, as she eyed him. “Kind of wish you would have hovered.”

Sparks wanted to pull him in, but she was still unsure. At the very least, she found a lot easier to speak to him now. She returned back to her apology, to make sure it went across.

“I’m sorry about pushing you away… Things in our world are different, and I get that… I’m just glad I found you in all of this mess”
